DIY Gift bag wall art

Sometimes Gift Bags are too cute to just be used as a present holder! So what can you do? Turn them into beautiful wall art! And best of all, most of the materials came from the Dollar Store! Check out the YouTube tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ7Bv88fA_I

Getting Started

First, select the gift bags and frames you want to use. Next, unwrap the plastic and remove any tags from the frames. Once you have done that, carefully remove the glass, paper and cardboard from inside the frames.

Spray Painting

*TIP: Whenever I am going to spray paint, I always place my item in an old cardboard box first. It helps contain the mess and gives the item a great place to dry*

(Before you start spray painting, make sure you are in a well-ventilated room or outside) Follow the instructions on your spray paint can and start painting. Spray the frames in a sweeping motion to avoid drips and let the frames dry in between coats of paint.

Cut the bags

Now that the picture frames are completely dry, cut the bags so that they will fit inside the frames. Remove the handles, any cardboard and/or tags and ensure the bags fit inside the frames.

Two of my picture frames (8x10) came with a white cardboard "mat" but the 11x14 frame did not. So I used the paper that came inside the 11x14 frame, turned it over and cut it out to look like a white "mat".

Once the bags (and mats) are trimmed to fit inside the frames, reassemble the picture frames!

TA-DA!!! Finished!

This DIY Gift Bag Wall Art project was easy to make, cost-efficient and FUN! The total cost of materials for this project was under $8! Great art gallery for an even better price!
