Easy “Monster” Wreath
Kind of a monster, kind of a creature, a whole lot of cute and so easy to make!
Materials
The materials I used for this project are:
Styrofoam Wreath Form
Spray Paint
Large “Googly Eyes”
Foam Sheets
Tulle (not pictured, I’ll explain later)
Glue Gun
Spray Paint the Wreath
I originally envisioned a glow-in-the-dark monster wreath but as usual, crafting plans changed along the way.
I spray painted the wreath form with the green glow-in-the-dark spray paint. I usually spray paint my projects in a cardboard box outside.
A leaf fell in the box while I was spray painting, nature’s way of making the shot more aesthetically pleasing I guess…
Honest Crafter AND Blogger moment
Time for another honest crafter moment but this is the blogger edition: After I spray painted the wreath, I realized that I wasn’t that crazy about the direction the wreath was going in. As I started to figure it out, I kind of forgot to document the process (my bad). Eventually, I figured it out and came to the finished wreath but I have no pictures of that process. I definitely blame this blogging oversight on having major art block AND “mom brain” concurrently.
I added neon greenish-yellow tulle by cutting the tulle in strips and tying it around the styrofoam. Then I hot glued the large googly eyes (which I was lucky enough to find at the dollar store) to the front of the wreath.
I cut teeth-like shapes from the white craft foam. Then I hot glued the “teeth” to the back of the wreath so it looks like the teeth are inside the monster’s “mouth”.
Since I forgot to take pics of that process enjoy this picture of an adorable bunny instead :)
Finished!
Here is the finished Wreath! It was definitely quite satisfying to achieve something that was cuter than I originally envisioned! My monster/creature wreath did still glow in the dark because of the eyes and the spray paint. This wreath was definitely a hit with all the trick-or-treaters!
